There has been much debate amongst certain groups and even conspiracy theories relating to whether the music that we all listen to and enjoy would be naturally more resonant if tuned down by 8 hertz to 432 rather than standard concert pitch of 440 hertz of A above middle C. Interestingly the 8 hertz difference as theorized is roughly also the measured resonance of the planet Earth which has been recorded as having a fundemental frequency of around 8 hertz at 7.83. This resonance of the planet Earth is referred to as the Shumann resonance. Around 8 hertz in terms of brainwave frequency which is measured using the same hertz frequency scale is the state in which the hemispheres of the brain become more synchronized and this is referred to as alpha brainwave state. The number 432 appears in the geometry within the Universe in countless places and there are many who theorize that this is no coincidence. The radius of the Sun is around 432, 000 miles, There are 864 seconds in a day so twice 432 and the frequency or speed of light is measured as being 432 squared to mention but a few. It seems that a LOWERING of vibration or frequency rather than a raise in terms of the music we listen to may be more in tune with the planet and the Universe as a whole. As individuals and collectively, lowering and slowing down the vibration and the fast pace that we find ourselves living at, seems to be necessary for wellbeing. Though the theory relating to 432 tuning has been discounted by some, it is interesting to consider the idea that the very music we hear on a day to day basis may be slightly too fast in terms of frequency and there are many who believe that this would be naturally more harmonic if the vibration in terms of classic standard tuning was to be lowered. There is much information available that suggests a direct link between sound and geometry otherwise known as sonic geometry and 432 does appear to be a significant number both in terms of frequency and geometry throughout the Universe. The effects of the pair of 432 tuning forks that I have, do seem to have the effect of cutting through mind chatter and facilitating relaxation. Probably the most commonly used tuning fork sets in sound therapy, are those that are based on Pythagorian tuning which is a system based on a simple ratio of overtones and derived from natural fifths. The interval of the fifth has been shown to have a calming and relaxing effect on the listener. Studies have shown that the sound of pefect fifths such as that created by using the notes C & G, has the effect of lowering blood pressure and activating parasymathetic responses and in so, facilitating relaxation. As mentioned in the tuning fork section, various interval and interval combinations can be used for dealing with various issues such as insomnia as devised by sound healing pioneer John Beaulieu https://www.johnbeaulieu.com/ . My personal favourite of all the tuning forks that I use are a pair of forks that resonate at the frequency of 111 hertz. I find these to be the most powerful and effective of all. Interestingly 111 Hertz has been found to be the resonant frequency within numerous megalithic structures around the world. A most noteable example of this is to be found within a Hypogeum in Malta which is a cavernous underground structure that dates back to nearly 3,500 years ago. Within this structure exists a small platform as shown in the picture below and when standing at this spot and making sounds, the frequency emitted has been found to be around 111 hertz, despite whomever is making the sound and individual voice differences. 111 Hertz frequency is sometimes referred to as the Holy frequency due to the prevolance this resonance within various Ancient Holy temples around he world and is believed to facilitate divine levels of meditation and trance. I can attest that there does seem to be something special about this particular frequency and would definitely avoid using them prior to carrying out any activity, requiring high levels of concentration!
Other sounds and frequencies that are utilized in some sound healing instruments are those using Solfeggio frequencies. Solfeggio frequencies are a set of 6-9 tones that were originally created and used in Gregorian chants and believed to impart spiritual blessings when sang in harmony. The specific frequencies of the tones where developed by referring to the biblical book of numbers and each tone has been ascribed it own particular healing properties. 528 hertz for example is believed to be associated with DNA repair and is sometimes referred to as the love frequency. see link here 528weblink. I was particularly interested in hearing this sound having heard so much about it in various sound forums and for the healing properties. It is a very pleasant sound to behold and I use this tuning fork in my sessions where indicated. I also often incorporate a small solfeggio tuned steel drum into my sound sessions to create a wonderful soundscape for the listener.
The Fibonacci sequence of numbers otherwise known as the golden ratio or Phi as found throughout nature have been applied to sound therapy instruments. Fibonacci tuning forks containing this series of harmonic patterns and proportions have been created to faciitate feelings of balance and harmony for the listener. The sound of the gong has been shown to follow harmonic pattern of Phi which may also explain the strong feeling of connection and serenity associated with being in the presence of this sound and vibration.​
