BALANCING CHAKRAS....cont
The two charts included in this section which were included in the level two Sound Healing Academy training material provide a very good summary and basic overview of how imbalances within the main energy centres may manifest both physically and emotionally. I generally find use of an energy chime sounded around the biofield, a good method of assessing imbalances. The quality of the sound can be noted to change around certain areas and be heard in the form of a dip for example in an area of depletion and slight raise in tone to areas of excess. Reiki is also a good method for detecting imbalances and when using Reiki an excess in heat felt through the hands would indicate an area in need of healing or in other words an area of depletion. I discuss this in more detail in the section involving assessing imbalances.
I have found that actual physical conditions being experienced by clients often correlate with emotional aspects or at least exist synchronistically with emotional issues prevalent for clients involved. The solar plexus and throat chakra as being in depletion seems to be a common finding amongst female clients for example. Excess energy around the sacral area, amongst other things can manifest as addiction issues in the life of the client and this would be an example of energy compensation on a physical, emotional and energetic level. There are various methods that can be used to help correct imbalances but I tend to favour use of Tibetan bowls, used both on and off the body as discussed in more detail in the Tibetan bowl section. Gongs are also thought to be very effective in clearing and dispersing energetic blocks which again is discussed in more detail in that section.
Each of the chakras has been associated with particular musical notes which have also been linked to the associated 7 colours in the visible light spectrum. The root chakra for example which is located at the base of the spine is associated with the lowest and deepest sound of C in the seven note heptatonic scale and the colour red in the colour spectrum. The highest note in the scale, as A, has been associated with the brow, or third eye chakra generally. Though not all practitioners subscribe to the idea that a particular musical note relates to a particular chakra, using the 7 main notes contained in the spectrum of one octave or scale can serve to facilitate balance and harmony due to the relationship between the notes. Using a scale in the same octave also serves to simplify matters when perhaps aiming to facilitate harmony within the chakras. Using 7 notes in the same octave makes total sense to me though I have spoken to many practitioners who prefer to base their use of sound in relation to Tibetan bowls solely on intuition.
Various other minor energy centres are believed to exist within the subtle energy field such as in the palms of the hands but seven main ones are generally believed to be key. The number seven occurs frequently in sound healing as it does in the physical world generally. The seven chakras are sometimes associated with the seven main planets in the solar system and the associated vibrations of these. The sun, for example is believed to be the governing planet of the solar plexus area. A strong solar plexus would be associated with self confidence and positivity. There are many ways in which imbalances can manifest themselves but the pictures above highlight the key aspects.
